In the words of Homer Simpson - A Lil’ Help?

January 24th, 2008

Homer Simpson Sick

All these years I’ve thought I was an exceptional mother - taking care of kids when they were sick, nurturing them back to health quickly and suddenly all former beliefs are being put to the test.

I’ve had sick kids for TWO friggin weeks and I’m OVER it!

What does it take, shy of a nuclear bomb, to rid my house of these germs?

Any tips?

Seriously, this “Man Flu” is about to kill me here! I’m just about to show them all that they don’t just feel like they’re dying, they actually ARE! Bleh.

Two weeks?!! Oh dear, poor you.

I’ve worked hard to be very boring when my children are sick, because I don’t want them to think its more fun at home than at school.

Of course, you know what will happen - as soon as you’ve got them all packed off back to school you’ll come down with it, whatever it is, and won’t be able to work anyway. That’s one of the unwritten Rules of Motherhood …

Test results back today indicate some sort of bacterial type influenza. At least it has a name now and it can be treated *sighs*

I’m sick of the motherhood rules - aren’t you?

I wish I’d known the rules before I signed on. LOL!

Cedar’s still young enough to be sad, not totally annoying when he’s sick. But having dealt with grown men acting like they’re dying over a cold I get it. I hope you got some medication for the bacteria.

    Gayla-
Use a vaporizer with a few drops of tea trea oil and lavender essential oil in it.

Marye, I knew you’d know a remedy :) I’ll have to try that. I have both on hand.

I hope I’m late replying and you’re free of the man flu, but here’s a small contribution.

My nona’s approach: Wash and rewash *everything*… the germy boys, the germy sheets the germy jammies… all of it. It may be a pain, but it’ll keep the germ sharing down a bit and maybe you can catch a break.

And I found this article rather useful: http://vava.essortment.com/herbalhomereme_rnmn.htm

    Good luck!
