Juggling Practice

I think…think…I have streamlined my life. Maybe. I have deleted a couple of personal blogs..I have resurrected a couple of blogs I had let slide, and I have made a plan to keep up with all of them, that is working, so far.

It is hard for me to juggle all of it, but everything I write is so specialized that I can’t just handle it all on one blog….

I am writing in Frozen Music again. That is my homesteading blog and also where I write about the house restoration we are doing. Or not doing as the case may be. Restoration is really difficult when you have no money, no matter what they say on t.v.

I have serious issues with Victorian Homes Magazine. I page through it murmuring, thou shalt not covet…thou shalt not covet…

Anyway, I thought I would share one of my favorite parodies here, I wrote it for Frozen Music on a particularly bad day….If you are in your 40’s or older you will remember the tune of Cover of the Rolling Stones by Dr Hook and the Medicine Show.

Well we are house fanatics, we spend time in attics
and we’re known at Home Depot
We hammer and we drill, and grumble alot
Cause our retirement fund doesn’t grow.
We use all kinds of tools, people call us fools
Cause we’re not interested in the Astro-dome
We just keep on working, there is no shirking
To get ourselves on the cover of Victorian Home

Refrain:
Victorian Home
Wanna see my picture on the cover
Victorian Home
Wanna send five copies to my brother
Victorian Home
Wanna see my faux grain paint
On the cover of Victorian Home

I’ve got alot of guys, it’s no surprise
Who want me to pay my bills
I’ve got my adolescent son stripping the window sills!
Now it’s all designed to make us lose our minds
But our minds won’t need to roam
If we could just get one picture
On the cover of Victorian Home

refrain:
Victorian Home
Wanna see my picture on the cover
Victorian Home
Wanna send five copies to my brother
Victorian Home
Wanna see my faux grain paint
On the cover of Victorian Home

We’ve got anaglypta and beadboard
To put up nearly everywhere
We have tons of Bradbury wallpaper
And even a Roycroft chair!
All our friends they dodge us
One even moved to Nome
And we don’t even care, we’re a desperate pair
We want our picture on Victorian Home

I think all of us need to slow down. It is amazing the amount of work going into these blogs, for some reason we aren’t rich yet. What the heck???

    Big hugs to you!

I still don’t know how you do it all. And I never will.

Love the WonderWoman gif. So appropriate. :)

Julie I know, huh? What;s up with that?

Wendy- it is all the speed I took as a teenager…it is obiously still in my system. Well that, and my special superpower of making time stand still

Awesome! It’s true; home building, and DYI stuff is a snap if you’ve got a little spare change (or more). It’s harder when cash is low. I want to build another house too. (which I know isn’t remodel, but). Do you guys have a local restore? I know someone who built a straw bale for under 20,000 (lots recycled and salvaged) which seems like the way to go - but I don’t think I’d have a good season for that here in the NW.

DIY not DYI (what’s DYI?) “Do Yourself In?” That’s sort of remodeling and building I guess.

WEll, we could probably do more if we weren’t trying to do it green AND historically accurate…
    blah…darn perfectionism.
