Stupid People Tricks: Part 2
January 5th, 2008
So PreschoolMama wondered why it was mostly women who brought these types of lawsuits..really it did not take much digging to find out that men can be as stupid. Stupidity seems to be one of those characteristics of humankind that crosses gender, like nipples.
So, in light of that…stupid people tricks part 2.
1. Man sued ( by a man) for copyright violation after he recorded 4 minutes and 33 seconds of complete silence. Don’t breathe my air, but you can Read about it here
2. A man, when he found out that the daughter he had been paying child support (and taking to Mcdonalds ) was not his own, has sued to “get every penny back”. Maybe he could sell her on the Asian slave market and get his money that way.
3. A quadriplegic has sued a Florida Strip club because he could not get access to the upstairs Lap Dancing Rooms .
4. A Chicago doctor accuses a girlfriend of “stealing his sperm” after she (also a doctor) impregnated herself with a sample collected during oral sex. The court ruled that it was a “gift”.
5. I am quoting this in it’s entire form…from this website
A court in Lincoln, Nebraska is dealing with a strange lawsuit filed by state Sen. Ernie Chambers of Omaha that names God as a defendant. The suit accuses God of making terroristic threats, inspiring fear and causing “widespread death, destruction and terrorism.” The case was being treated as a joke until lawyer Eric Perkins of Corpus Christi, Texas, filed a response on God’s behalf. It reads that “Defendant denies that this or any court has jurisdiction . . . over Him any more than the court has jurisdiction over the wind or rain, sunlight or darkness.” The rebuttal also “contends that any harm or injury suffered is a direct and proximate result of mankind ignoring obvious warnings.”
So, you see, men are at least as odd as women.

Marc and I had a romantic and relaxing day at the V.A. hospital today in preparation for his surgery on Monday. Literally ALL day…Ortho clinic was running a mere three hours behind schedule but since we have no real life anyway it was o.k.
However…
I see things at the VA I don’t normally see at home…. besides the guy with a beard in a pink tank top and a bra, I mean. They have something we don’t have at the VA…..besides the guy that was heatedly arguing with the water fountain, I mean. They have CNN.
You find out the coolest things on CNN. Seriously. Today I learned that a woman sued a man for child support. :::giggle:::
and ::::snort::::
he :::::guffaw::::
I can’t stand it. Please put down any drink you may have in your hand (and swallow) because if you have something in your mouth it is going to be all over your computer screen in a minute…
He was a sperm donor.
I warned you.
I am all for men supporting the children they create…but asking a sperm donor to support the resulting child is like asking Kroger’s to pay your grocery bill.
How completely unintelligent, unethical and money hungry have we become that we can sue for such stupidity as french fries causing us to be fat and sperm donors causing us to give birth. How ridiculous is it that a hot cup of coffee comes with a “caution, coffee is hot” blurb?
O.k. Genius, if you are fat from fries it is because you ate too many. If you get cancer from cigarettes it is because you decided to start smoking them…hot coffee is supposed to be hot and when you go and get intimate with a turkey baster (or syringe) whatever results is yours to love and cherish and support…
I am, however, considering a lawsuit against Al Gore because I spend way to much time on that whole Internet invention of his.

December 29th, 2007
For the last five weeks my hubby and I have been unemployed because we are seasonal workers. We have been spending our time reading, going to the library in town a couple of times a week. He started out reading Michael Moore, Noam Chomsky, and Howard Zinn. I read Naomi Wolf’s “End Of America” and Al Franken’s “Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them”, before I moved on to several cookbooks.
One day we were watching Iconoclasts on TV. The particular episode we were watching featured Deepak Chopra and Mike Myers. I had heard a little bit about Chopra in the past, but Jim had never heard of him. In the show, they were discussing a little bit about his philosophy and talked about one of his books, “Ageless Body, Timeless Mind”. So, the next time we went to the library we checked it out.
Jim is very impressed with the concept of everything being connected that Chopra stresses in his book. He is especially interested in learning more about Aryuveda, and in the aryuvedic way of eating practised in India.
The freaky thing that happened is that because I had checked out a cookbook on Indian cooking, I had a list in my head of new herbs and spices I wanted to get the next time we had a little money to spend on such things. We were given several Wal-Mart gift cards for Christmas and went grocery shopping with them. While we were there, Jim came over to me in the spice aisle, and said, “I want to get some ginger, some curry powder, and some Chinese Five Spice Powder.” Those are the exact same three that I had on my list!!! Freaky!!

November 29th, 2007

Okay, so my daughter comes home from school yesterday and said that one of her classmate’s dad said she was the prettiest girl in school. What was my first reaction? To go knock on his door and tell him how inappropriate his comment was. My daughter is 10 for crying out loud and he is in his 30’s! That’s just creepy if you ask me.
You know what else is creepy? This guy lives in our old house. Yeah, weird. Also, every time I go up to school to have lunch with my kids, volunteer, or whatever….this guy is there! I’m seeing red flags everywhere wouldn’t you agree? It’s one thing for a dad to be involved in his kids’ lives, but it’s another thing to be making comments like that and to be up at school 24/7, it seems.
So I am trying to figure out how to handle this situation. Do I:
A) Go have my husband pummel this guy.
B) Go to his house myself and tell him to leave my daughter alone.
C) Tell the principle he’s got a creep on his hands. (My kids principal is an ex-college basketball player and he is HUGE!)
D) Go have my husband pummel this guy. (Wait, did I mention that one already?)
Anyway, I’m going to do something about it because he shouldn’t be making comments like that about a little girl, in my opinion anyway and I just get weird vibes from him. I asked my daughter what she thought about this guy and she said “He’s creepy”. Well, there you go.
So, what would you do in a situation like this? ![]()

When did our government decide it could just do what it wanted and we would be too busy Paying taxes to notice?

So, Marc and I are both veterans. We were in the intelligence field. We have decent minds, and we read alot. We consider ourselves to be pretty politically aware. So how did the changes to eminent domain slip by us so easily?
Written by...Babe Marye -- @ Seriously Now | Comments (4)How Much Does A Baby Cost?
November 14th, 2007

Yep..that is me at 3 months old shooting the finger at the photographer. I was a rebel from the git-go.
I have alot of people comment on the size of our family, both on the Internet and in real life. Some are nice and some are rude. I always am nice to the nice ones but the rude ones usually get my sarcastic self at it’s best. I am going to save THAT rant for later…Maybe tomorrow. Suffice it to say that if you go out in public with 6 or 7 or 8 kids and you are not stepping out of a school bus prepare to have your boundaries invaded.
But, Laurie commented on another post about the cost of another child. AND I really want to comment on that. Laurie is a way cool foodie baker from The Quirky Cupcake . and also a fellow Daring Baker. I would give her the secret sign right now, but I don’t think we have one.
So anyway, kids. Money. Read on.

My oldest son and youngest daughter when he was home on leave last Christmas. He is headed back to Iraq soon. See the look on her face? My kids really adore eachother. Most of the time.
A first baby will cost you more than any subsequent child (unless there are health issues etc) . A first baby changes your life the most. You go from being an individual to being a synergy. Never again will you be completely separate from that other human being. Never. My 25 year old is struggling right now. She is hurting and many miles away from me. It feels no different that when she was hurting when she was 2 or 6 or 16. I hurt to the deepest depths of me because she is my child.
With your first child you buy all the cool stuff. Baby carriers, bouncy seats, and on and on. By child number 8 you are stuffing two cloth diapers and a grocery bag in your purse when you go somewhere and you have rediscovered the rocking chair. My first baby was born in a hospital with all the doctors, nurses, and nasty interventions, my 3-8th were born at home, and number 8 who was born in 2004 still cost less than #1 who was born in 1982.
Clothes-Once you have one of each sex then the subsequent children do not need many clothes. I know that this term is largely out of use but I really like these words…hand-me-down. Big families pass clothing around. Friends give us things that their kids have out grown. My kids always look great and I spend approximately 50-75 dollars a year total on each child up to the age of about 15. AT that point the thrift store stops having clothes in my boys sizes (Matt is a 28/30 jean) and we learn to shop at eBay and Old Navy and pray for sales.
Food. When you have alot of kids you do not eat out. Whataburger (my favorite hamburger place) costs us 45.00 for burgers and fries. What you do is have a party every time you sit down at the table. I make homemade pizza on Friday nights and we watch Netflix movies and eat popcorn. We usually go through about 4-6 large pizzas when I make them. However, our grocery bill is about 500.00 a month total, and that includes pet food, homeschool supplies, makeup and other things…not just food. It is up from last year because I did not have a garden this year. So yeah, if you love to eat out alot then more kids is going to crimp your style.
Medical - we use herbs and homeopathic for medical needs, rarely going to the doctor. If there is an emergency we pay for it the best we can. We do not have insurance because we can’t afford it and have not had insurance for over 14 years. Personally I don’t see the point of insurance except for a catastrophic type plan..I mean, insurance has jacked the prices of everything up.
School - We homeschool. We have floor to ceiling bookshelves lining our upstairs hall, in the dining area and then smaller ones in the reception parlor. The kids use the books for school as they need/want to. If we need a new book we either borrow it from the library, a fellow homeschooler or buy it at a thrift shop, eBay or where ever. I rarely pay more than $1 for a book unless it is special. College? that is their deal. Honestly, if they want to go then they will find a way. There are student loans, they can join the military, they can go part time. I don’t plan on paying for college. Yes, I am a bad mom.
We don’t buy cars for 16 year olds and 16 year olds have to have a job in order to have a driver’s license. Because of insurance requirements they have to have money to pay for insurance. Once they have a job the are expected to buy their own clothes, pay for their own things, tithe 10% at least and have a savings.
Christmas? Easy. We don’t allow nintendo or that type of thing, and the kids are given 3 gifts. That is our tradition. The Wise-men gave Jesus 3 gifts and I think it is a nice number. We don’t usually spend of 400.00 for Christmas and that is spread over the course of the year.
That’s it. Seriously, we live on one income. I make some from blogging, but up until this year we lived on Marc’s salary alone and according to the government we were well below the national poverty level. We thought that was hysterical because our house is owned free and clear and we do not normally have debt. We do have some right now due to a business that folded but that debt will be gone soon. We own 2 investment homes besides the house we live in, and we do have a savings.
So many people try to buy their happiness and the happiness of their children that they forget that it is the simple things that bring freedom. Kids aren’t expensive, the way we choose to raise them is.
